Alex Nichols is a San Francisco based conceptual artist who combines writing, performance, video, photography and installation. Her work deconstructs the experience of self as narrated and performed; with a disarming physicality, rigor and humor Alex explores what it takes to reveal ourselves, and the resistance we meet in our external contexts as well as our internal psychological landscape.

She has exhibited and performed locally and internationally, working with renowned institutions such as 18th Street Artist Residency, Headlands Center For The Arts, Djerassi, Bamboo Curtain Studios Taipei, SF Recology as well as participating in Art fairs ZONAMACO Mexico City and Art Miami. She holds a graduate writing degree from California College of Arts. Alex Nichols founded the artist collective THINK MAKE TANK in 2015 and has worked in collaboration with Mushi Wooseong James A.K.A. ALEXANDMUSHI: Alex Nichols and Mushi Woosoeong James. She has lectured at CCA, UC Berkeley and AIA. With publications in media outlets including: SF Chronicle, SF Weekly, Taipei TV, 7X7, Timeout, Dazed.
